About me
Lyn Peters is the Director of Communications, Financial Education & Outreach for the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI). For the past 19 years, she has served the people of Washington State - all ages, all demographics and in communities large and small - by providing financial education information and outreach on a variety of financially focused topics. Her passion for financial education stems from her own lack of it prior to joining DFI in 2007. Today, much of her outreach is focused on fraud prevention - from helping youth understand how their online activities put them at risk, to helping seniors understand the many ways scammers are trying to steal their hard-earned retirement savings. She serves on the Financial Education Public Private Partnership Executive and Communications committees, the Jump$tart Washington Coalition Board, Consumer Protection Washington, and the North American Securities Administrators Association's Fraud Prevention project group.
