Alex Bechtler is the Division Manager for K‑12 Programs at Klein Educational Systems and a recognized leader in advanced manufacturing and automation education. His work focuses on developing industry‑aligned training programs that prepare students for careers in modern automated manufacturing environments.Prior to joining Klein Educational Systems, Alex built a Manufacturing and Automation Technology program in Las Vegas from the ground up. The program was designed in close collaboration with industry partners to ensure students developed the technical skills required by modern manufacturers. Through partnerships with leading companies such as Tesla, Wells Enterprises, and Ocean Spray, the program incorporated real‑world manufacturing practices, equipment, and workforce expectations directly into the classroom.A central focus of Alex’s work has been aligning education with industry‑recognized certifications that validate workforce readiness. Students in the four‑year program had the opportunity to graduate with more than 40 industry credentials. These included certifications from OSHA, FANUC Robotics, SACA (Smart Automation Certification Alliance), Mastercam CAD/CAM, and HAAS CNC machining. By embedding these certifications into the curriculum, students graduated with both hands‑on technical experience and credentials recognized by employers across the manufacturing sector.The program Alex developed became a model site for advanced manufacturing education within the state of Nevada. Its structure and industry alignment were used as a blueprint for other schools seeking to implement similar programs. As the initiative expanded, Alex was selected to train and certify other instructors across the west coast, helping replicate high‑quality manufacturing and automation programs in additional districts.Throughout his teaching career, Alex has been recognized for excellence in career and technical education. His honors include the New Teacher Excellence Award, Outstanding Teacher of the Year, and the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Teaching Excellence Award. He was also selected as a Woodie Flowers Finalist, a prestigious recognition awarded to educators who inspire and mentor the next generation of engineers and innovators.Today, Alex continues to collaborate with industry leaders, educators, and workforce organizations to strengthen advanced manufacturing education programs. His work focuses on preparing students for careers in robotics, automation, industrial technology, and the rapidly evolving world of Industry 4.0.
