About me
Ryan is an educator, innovator, and lifelong learner passionate about guiding individuals towards their purpose in life. With extensive experience in K-12 and higher education, he helps young adults navigate career decisions with confidence and authenticity. Ryan's passion for leadership, personal development, and interpersonal relationship building has carried him through Eastern Washington University (EWU), Spokane Falls Community College, Gonzaga University, and Whitworth University in numerous roles in Student Affairs and Recruitment.Through a Hawaiian proverb: ʻAʻole pau ka ʻike i ka hālau hoʻokahi (Not all knowledge is learned in one school/place/setting), Ryan reflects on the ability to be a life-long learner. Originally from Hawai'i, he integrates his cultural values and holistic understanding in his coaching approach. Ryan utilizes productive ways to meet students where they are at and foster a passion that ignites the fire beneath them to be the best versions of themselves.At Slingshot, he leads implementation of the IDEAS Framework in different high schools and ED-Tech development.Ryan also is an adjunct professor at Whitworth University teaching Physical Education for certificate programs. He builds relationships with his students to foster a holistic understanding of exercise, emotional health, and practical ways to increase physical activity on a personal level.Ryan holds a master's degree in Counselor Education from EWU and an MBA from Whitworth University.
