In this hands-on session, Farming The Future introduces the Garden Caterpillar—a modular, sustainable alternative to traditional beds designed for high-use in living labs. Attendees will engineer their own caterpillar system and master rapid-production microgreen techniques. Leave with a mini caterpillar and student microgreen kit, ready to implement a professional-grade, student-led agricultural program that aligns with CTE and STEM learning goals.First 20 participants receive hands-on materials for workshop, unlimited number can attend. They get a personal size (small and portable, can fit on plane) garden caterpillar bed, soil and all, that they will plant seeds in to grow everything needed for a personal salad in 8 weeks. They will also get a individual microgreen kit.

This workshop is an opporuntiy to work in teams to discuss ways to better communicate with your administrators. You will be given different scenarios that are real examples in schools. This is not an administrator bashing session. The presentation gives you examples that maybe your have not experienced yet, but you probably will. Hopefully you will have some new tools to help you navigate your way through when it does.
With over 30 years in Career and Technical Education, this presenter brings real-world expertise in program management, classroom leadership, and lab/shop instruction. He has presented at the University of Idaho and Washington State University, and mentored dozens of new teachers. His approach emphasizes being Firm, Fair, and Consistent while maintaining a positive, student-centered environment. Participants will gain practical strategies for managing CTE programs, understanding funding and purchasing processes, coordinating CTSO travel, and working effectively with administrators. Focused on hands-on learning and proactive management, this session supports advocacy, leadership, and program supervision. His goal is simple: to share ideas, strategies, and insights that help educators build structured, supportive, and high-performing learning environments where both students and teachers can succeed.
How do you connect the best students to work-based learning opportunities that actually align with their goals? In this live SchooLinks demo, Spokane Public School’s CTE coordinator shares how she uses SchooLinks reporting & filters, career assessment data, and eligibility criteria to intentionally match students to exploratory and preparatory opportunities inside of their district. Both SchooLinks core platform and the WBL suite will be showcased.
This session will focus on why early and sustained intervention matters and how to implement it. We will walk through the K12/University partnership between Washington State University's Health Science Campus and a rural district in Washington. This presentation will cover novel research about the benefits of career exposure from the student, K12 school administrator, and college student perspective. We will also discuss the keys and barriers to success of partnerships of this nature.
